A brand name and a water-making process.
Kangen Water is Enagic’s brand name for alkaline electrolysed water. Its LeveLuk water ionisers filter suitable source water and use electrolysis to produce different water outputs. The term describes branded water made with a particular system, rather than every kind of alkaline water.
It helps to separate two questions: what the filter is designed to remove, and what electrolysis changes about the water. These are different functions. Check the exact model, filter specifications and source-water requirements rather than assuming all water ionisers perform identically.
Filtration, pH and electrolysis.
- Filtration: look at the specific cartridge’s documented capabilities and replacement instructions.
- pH: a measurement of acidity or alkalinity. Alkaline water is a broad term for water with a pH above 7.
- Electrolysis: the process used to create different outputs. Available settings and intended uses depend on the model.
Drinking and non-drinking settings are different. Strong acidic and strong alkaline outputs are not drinking water. Follow your machine’s manual, rather than choosing a use from the colour, name or pH alone.
Four useful questions before choosing.
- Is my source water and tap setup suitable for this machine?
- Which outputs does the model provide, and which are intended for drinking?
- What routine cleaning, filter replacement and professional care does it require?
- What does the written quotation include, and who handles after-sales service?
pH, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and dissolved hydrogen are different measurements. None of these readings alone establishes that water prevents or treats disease. At a demonstration, ask what a test measures and what it cannot establish.
