Kangen Water is Enagic’s brand of alkaline electrolysed water. Alkaline water is a broader description of water with a pH above 7. The terms overlap, but they are not interchangeable.
Separate the name, the property and the process.

Enagic describes its system as filtering suitable source water and then using electrolysis to produce different outputs. A product label saying “alkaline” does not, by itself, tell you which process or equipment produced that water. Manufacturer background ↗
Ask what is being measured.
A demonstration may show a pH test, an oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) reading or a dissolved-hydrogen measurement. They describe different properties. Ask which sample is being tested, what instrument is used and which conditions affect the result. A colour change in a cup is not a clinical study.
A useful explanation should also tell you what a demonstration cannot establish. Do not treat a brand name, alkaline pH or negative ORP reading as evidence that drinking the water prevents or treats disease.
How to compare two water products fairly.
- Identify the product. Compare an exact machine or water product, not a vague category name.
- Read the documented function. Check filtration specifications separately from electrolysis or pH claims.
- Understand everyday requirements. Look at source-water suitability, maintenance and intended drinking settings.
- Check the evidence behind the claim. A manufacturer’s specification describes a product; it is not automatically evidence of a health outcome.
Strong acidic and strong alkaline machine outputs are not drinking water. Follow the exact model’s manual for settings and applications.
